Many people wanting to buy a caravan holiday home for the first time have little or no idea of what to do next. Here at Roy Kellett Caravans we have a wealth of experience to help you and have compiled this handy guide to make the process as easy as possible.
Step 1: Visit Roy Kellett Caravan Distributors!
As your first step, it is a very good idea to visit Roy Kellett Caravans. An informal chat with our Sales Team can help you identify what you are really looking for and what you can afford. You can collect brochures and information on the caravans available and even take a look at a few to gain a better understanding of the sizes, types and options you can chose from. We have a large park database available to help you find the right park and a wide selection of park brochures to take away. You will be under no obligation to buy, that's a promise!
Step 2: Where Would You Like To Be?
The next important step is deciding in which part of Wales you would like your caravan holiday home to be sited. Firstly we recommend you consider the distance and time you would like to travel to your holiday home and access to public transport if you do not have your own. Consider also the type of facilities you would like access to locally. Would you prefer a beach side location; unspoilt views of the Welsh Valleys or funfairs and shopping? Fortunately Wales can offer a wide variety of locations and facilities to suit every taste.
Step 3: Find a Caravan Holiday Park
When you have an idea of the area you would like to be in, you need to choose a caravan park. The main selection criteria for caravan parks are facilities and annual charges.
Do you want a shop, a club or a swimming pool on site? Or are you looking for a get away from it all location on a small, quiet park? Most caravan parks have also been graded either by the local tourist board or a trade association. Gradings take in to account layout, landscape, atmosphere and ambience, as well as facilities.
If cost is your main consideration you need to look at annual charges such as ground rent, rates and services charges e.g. gas, water and electricity. What is included and what it isn't? Along with annual charges, all caravan parks have an initial siting and connections charge. This covers the costs of siting and levelling your new holiday home; connecting it to the on site services and preparing the caravan holiday home for use. Siting and connection charges can vary greatly and may include extras such as verandas, TV aerials and alarms. It is important to establish what you would like and what you can afford!
Step 4: Choosing Your Caravan Holiday Home
Finally when you have chosen your preferred caravan park and have been allocated a pitch, you will be able to choose the right holiday home for you.
Key considerations may be the size of your family and the number of bedrooms you require; maximising your view or the use if a veranda; how often your chosen caravan park is open and the need for central heating and double glazing.
Note: Since pitch sizes vary, it is important to ascertain the maximum length and width of caravan you will be able to have!
With a list of the basics in hand, you can then choose from the wide selection of caravan styles, layouts and colour schemes available at our Showground.
Still perplexed? Well, don't worry. The Sales Team at Roy Kellett Caravans can help and advise with all the above. We look forward to meeting you soon!
