  1. What is and is not included in the price of a caravan?

All reputable caravan holiday homes have published retail prices, but these exclude optional extras, delivery charges, siting, connection and commissioning costs, which can add considerably to the overall cost of a caravan holiday home. These costs vary from caravan park to caravan park based on location, facilities, length of season etc.

It is therefore important when choosing your ideal caravan park to understand who is responsible for what.

Here is a list of considerations:

    • Caravan retail price plus any optional extras
    • Delivery charges from the manufacturer to the caravan park
    • Siting the caravan holiday home on a pitch, levelling and securing it
    • Connecting the caravan holiday home to gas, water, electricity by qualified/approved engineers
    • Commissioning the caravan holiday home; setting it up for use
    • On-site optional extras e.g. TV aerials, steps or verandas; alarms
    • Caravan insurance

Many caravan parks now charge a one off all inclusive price to site your caravan holiday home on it's pitch which takes a lot of the ambiguity away, but again you need to check what is and isn't included in the price.

  3. What rules & regulations do caravan parks have?

  7. Can I live in my caravan holiday home?

Roy Kellett Caravan Distributors only displays and sells caravan holiday homes which are not designed for residential use. You must also consider the terms and conditions of your chosen caravan park which may exclude residential or long term occupancy.

  8. Do we really need double glazing & central heating?

The answer to this obviously lies with yourselves and your budget! However you should consider the months of the year your caravan park is open, location and how and when you will your use your caravan holiday home. Caravans are primarily designed as holiday homes for use in the summer months, so add double glazing, extra insulation and panel heaters if you feel the cold or are in an exposed location. However if you are planning winter weekends away including Christmas or New Year, then we would suggest double glazing and central heating are essential.

  9. Why do we have to have environmental external colours?

This may be a condition of the planning consent given to your caravan park due to location or merely one of the park's terms and conditions for uniformity. Either way the rule must be adhered to and it's a great way to be environmentally friendly!
