This week has brought us glorious sunshine and there is no place better to enjoy this marvellous spring weather than the coastal area that is the Llyn Peninsula. Situated along the north west coastline of Wales, the Llyn Peninsula combines stunning beaches and sea fronts with natural beauty and thrilling activities, to bring you the next best holiday destination in North Wales.
Based on the north west coast of Wales, the Llyn Peninsula is only 2 hours from Cheshire and around 2 ½ hours from the likes of Manchester and Liverpool, a short journey to make for the stunning landscapes and Welsh culture and heritage you’ll find on ‘Snowdon’s Arm’.
Beaches may be the first thing that comes to mind when you think of the Llyn Peninsula, as the coastline is full to the brim of sandy beaches and hidden coves you’d expect to find somewhere with a much warmer climate. First stop, Abersoch! This popular and stylish seaside town is one not to be missed.With boutique shops and pubs lining the town, to the stunning sandy beach, infamous for its watersports, Abersoch is one of the top beaches in North Wales!
Next up, head a few miles down the road to Llanbedrog. Llanbedrog is a charming seaside village best known for its colourful seaside huts which line the sea front. Possibly the most famous and photogenic line of beach huts in Wales! Llanbedrog is also home to a leading arts centre and gallery ‘Oriel Plas Glyn-y-Weddw’ meaning you can take a break from sandy walks and go and appreciate some Welsh art during your time on the Llyn.
Porthdinllaen is a small coastal village situated on the opposite side on the Llyn, home to a stunning national trust owned beach where the only access is via foot. On this beach you’ll find the infamous Ty Coch Inn, arguably the best pub in Wales! With views across the Irish Sea and a sandy beach on its doorstep this pub rivals no other. Why not spend the day taking in some rays on the sand beach before ending the day with a cool beer whilst enjoying some local cuisine freshly prepared for you.
We can't forget Pwllheli! Pwllheli is quite often referred to as the ‘capital’ of the Llyn Peninsula, with the seaside resort acting as a hub for all the activities and attractions you may want to undertake during your visit to the Llyn. A busy market town, Pwllheli has everything and more you’d expect from a busy seaside resort. In Pwllheli you’ll find Hafan Pwllheli, one of the best modern marinas in the UK. The marina gives access to the inviting sailing waters of cardigan bay, whether you own a sailing boat, speed boat.. or even a yacht! The water is the perfect place for you to spot some of North Wales’ marvellous wildlife, from seals, seabirds to dolphins, North Wales has it all!
Whilst you may think the Llyn Peninsula is all sandy beaches and open waters, this isn't the case! There really is so much to do! Why not visit Glasfryn Parc an activity centre just five minutes from Pwllheli, where you can have an adrenaline filled day, taking part in allsorts, from go karting, a segway safari, quad bikes, archery and crazy golf, there is something for everyone.
