Spotlight on North Wales Coast

14 June 2018

The North Wales Coast is a stunning area of Wales, with beaches a plenty, magnificent coastal views and coastal paths, alongside stunning natural beauty hidden amongst all the tourist attractions.

The North Wales Coast probably covers everywhere from Penmaenmawr to Caerwys, a huge area full of exciting things to do and see! Your first question is probably, ‘Where do I start?!’ with the answer being right here with our handy guide on the North Wales Coast.

From beaches to mountains to quaint seaside towns, North Wales Coast really does have it all. The Victorian town of Llandudno is one of the coasts most popular destinations, combining two marvellous beaches, a prominent headland and a quintessentially british seaside town. Head here for a wonderful day out with the family. Whether you decide to spend your time on the North Shore, a beach complete with an amusement packed pier, a Punch and Judy Puppet Show and regular boat trips, your day at the seaside will be full of excitement.

Llandudno is also well known for The Great Orme, a limestone headland on the edge of the town. The Great Orme can be discovered in many ways, whether you want to explore by foot and take the 5 mile walk around the Orme (complete with stunning views across towards Anglesey), ride the Great Orme Tramway up to the summit, Britain's only cable hauled public road tramway which climbs 1500m high to give you stunning views across Llandudno and beyond! Or maybe hop onto a cable car to enjoy jaw dropping panoramic views of Llandudno Bay! In just 9 minutes you can cover over a mile on an endless steel rope.

North Wales has many seaside towns which are worth a visit, including the history filled town of Conwy. This walled town is home to so much Welsh heritage and beauty, from the remarkable Conwy Castle, built back in the 13th century to the ‘Smallest House in Britain’ located on the Conwy Quay front. Spend the day getting to know this medieval town, wandering down the cobbled high streets, eating some local produce and exploring the walls which surround the town.

North Wales is also known for the stunning beaches which line the coastline. Head down to Talacre where you will find miles of golden sand dunes, waiting to be explored. This award winning beach is home to an iconic lighthouse which adds even more character and depth to the picturesque setting of this beach.

If you’re looking to something a bit different from visiting one of the many beaches North Wales has to offer, why not visit Bodnant Garden near Conwy? A world famous garden home to national collections and champion trees. The stunning gardens span 80 acres with a huge variety of plants and flowers on display every year. Bodnant Garden is famous for its Laburnum arch, the longest of its kind in the UK, during the summer months you have the chance to dine underneath this mass of flowers, how does that sound?

Conwy is also home to its very own vineyard, Gwinllan. A welsh vineyard experience with the beautiful backdrop of the Snowdonia National Park. First planted in 2012, Gwinllan hasn't been around long but that does not reflect on the varieties of wine they produce. Visit the vineyard for your very own tour followed by a wine tasting, whilst you take in the spectacular views of the rolling hills.

With so much on offer along the North Wales Coast, why not make it your next destination to visit? You might even love it so much you want to make it a more permanent home away from home! With so many parks to choose from in the area, you’ll be sure to find somewhere which suits all your wants and needs.
