Things to see and do this August 2017 in North Wales

With August already on its way, we at Lloyds Caravan & Lodge Sales have come up with a whole host of activities for you and your families to enjoy across North Wales throughout the summer. With a range of tourist attractions and events across from the Llyn Peninsula to the North Wales Coast and Cheshire, there will be something for everyone to enjoy!

Monday 7th – Head down to Penrhyn Castle in Bangor for a day of Bushcraft skills and Adventure! Brush up on your survival skills and learn how to read a map and compass, cook on a real fire and leave secret stick trails in the woods!

Tuesday 8th – Step back in time and visit the magnificent medieval town of Conwy, with its ancient town walls and imposing 13th century castle. The town is full of history and character, with it boutique shops and eateries which line the cobbled high street.

Wednesday 9th – Ride the Bala Lake Railway, where you can enjoy the beautiful sights of southern Snowdonia for yourself! Discover the charm the narrow gauge steam trains have to offer during a nine-mile journey along the Shore of Bala Lake, the largest natural lake in Wales.

Thursday 10th – For a day of family fun in the woods, why not visit Adventure Trail Abergele, where you can explore beautiful woodland whilst tackling some of the 40 challenges along the way. Bring a picnic for you and the family to enjoy the challenges of mazes, spider webs, tunnels and slides you’ll encounter on your way.

Friday 11th – Greenwood Forest Park is a guaranteed day of fun for you and the family! Discover woodland adventure and attractions including the UK’s only solar powered water ride, the world’s first people powered roller coaster and the longest sledge run in Wales! During August, you will also find live entertainment in the Forest Theatre, donkey rides and crafting! Prices and Tickets available here.

Saturday 12th – Make the most of the August sunshine by taking a trip to the beach. Here in North Wales we have an abundance of beaches for you to choose from, whether you take a trip to the sandy beaches of Abersoch, the forest lined beach of Newborough on Anglesey or the newly developed Porth Eirias Beach at Colwyn Bay.

Sunday 13th – The annual Rhyl Lifeboat Harbour Raft Race takes place today! With fancy dress, Jet Ski stunts, hi-speed rib rides and food stalls, there is something for the whole family to enjoy! Starting at 1:30, it’s a great day out for the whole family!

Monday 14th – Spend the day in Llandudno where you can discover the Great Orme for yourself! Whether you choose to ride the Great Orme Tramway, Britain’s only cable hauled road tram to the top or jump in a cable car to the summit, the longest passenger cable car system in the country. From the summit expect to see surreal views of neighbouring towns and even as far out as Anglesey!

Tuesday 15th – Head over to the Anglesey County Show for a two-day showcase of equestrian events, animal and livestock presentations, shopping, craft exhibitors, machinery and vehicle stands and much much more! Pop over to the Lloyds Caravans and Lloyds Caravan & Lodge Sales exhibition stand at the Anglesey County Show, where we’ll be displaying 4 Static Caravan Holiday Homes for you to view and be on hand to answer any queries you may have. Wednesday 16th – Head down to Zip World in Betws y Coed to try your hand at The Fforest Coaster, the only alpine coaster of its kind in the UK. A thrilling new adventure that is fun for the whole family, where you’ll experience flying through the forest at exhilarating speeds. More information can be found here.

Thursday 17th – Send the kids for a day of arts and crafts at Mostyn Llandudno! For £5, your kids can learn how to make wind chimes, kaleidoscopes and sun catchers, whilst you enjoy a spot of retail therapy in the shopping centre, Parc Llandudno, around the corner.

Friday 18thKnightlys Fun Park in Towyn is the place to go if you’re after some adventure. Ride on the exhilarating amusements and rides, from the Dragon Coaster, the Dodgems and Go Karts, there is something for everyone to enjoy! After a day on the amusements, you can head to The Long Bar restaurant for some well-deserved dinner whilst watching top class cabaret and comedy shows.

Saturday 19thAnglesey Sea Zoo brings the best of British Marine life straight to you! With daily interactive talks, you’ll be able to learn all about the sea life on display, as well as the British seahorse and lobster conservation programmes run from the zoo. The fun doesn’t stop there, with crazy golf, an adventure playground and giant bouncy castle for you to enjoy!

Sunday 20th – Pop along to the St Asaph Rotary County Fayre, a traditional family event bringing everyone together for a day of fun and activities! From trying your hand at circus skills, visiting the petting zoo, riding the attractions of the fun fair and watching amazing demonstrations from working dogs and horses, there is something for everyone! Admission is £5 for adults and free for children.

Monday 21st – Situated near the Llyn Peninsula, you’ll find the picturesque village of Portmerion. Built between 1925 and 1976, Portmerion is known for bringing a taste of Italy to the North Wales coastline. Explore the charming coloured houses, whilst taking in the stunning scenery for yourself.

Tuesday 22nd – When in the region, it would be rude not to visit Chester Zoo. With over 15,000 animals housed in 125 acres of zoo gardens, there is so much to see and so much to do! Learn about the amazing exotic and endangered wildlife that is housed here, whilst exploring their immersive habitats.

Wednesday 23rd – Why not take the family to Pili Palas Nature World in Anglesey? Be at one with nature when entering a jungle of tropical butterflies, walk through lizard land and meet the 14ft Burmese Rock Python Billy! Admission starts at £7.25.

Thursday 24th – Spend the day at Bodnant Gardens, a stunning array of gardens nestled in the foothills of Snowdonia. With dramatic scenery, historical plant collections and a variety of horticultural styles, Bodnant Gardens is the easiest place to spend a relaxing summer’s day, being at one with nature. On site, there is also a spectacular restaurant and farm shop.

Friday 25th – Explore the natural beauty Wales has to offer and take a relaxing walk up to Aber Falls in Abergwyngregyn, just off the North Wales Coast. The walk takes approximately 40 minutes where you are rewarded with a stunning view of the Aber Fall waterfall. Here is the perfect location to have a picnic and take in the beautiful natural scenery, before heading back home.

Saturday 26th – Prestatyn Rocks Festival takes place this weekend, over two days on The Cookhouse car park. The day will be filled with live music, family entertainment, outdoor bars, BBQ & street food, as well as kids’ rides and stalls. For more information visit their Facebook Page.

Sunday 27th – Head to Tir Prince Market and Car Boot in Towyn. Spend the day browsing the market stalls, whilst the kids are kept entertained with the amusement rides and arcade games.

Monday 28thLoggerheads Country Park is part of the Clwydian Range in North Wales. With a beautiful wooded valley and dramatic cliff, Loggerheads is the perfect place to come for a relaxing walk amidst stunning scenery. It has a well-marked discovery trail and easily accessible paths, so you won’t have to worry about going off route.

Wednesday 30th – For a lesson in science, why not visit Electric Mountain in Llanberis. Situated near the foot of Snowdon, Electric Mountain is home to a hydroelectric power station, hidden directly within the mountain. Take an underground tour to see the huge turbines in action, whilst learning about the science behind it.

Thursday 31st – End summer in the best way possible, by surfing on a man-made wave lagoon. Surf Snowdonia is situated down the Conwy valley in Dollgarrog and is home to a 300meter surf lagoon for everyone to be able to enjoy the thrill of learning how to surf, regardless of your level of experience. Surf Snowdonia is also home to The Crash and Splash, an adrenaline filled assault course surrounded by water!

There really is something for everyone to enjoy here in North Wales, whether you’re after something that is fun for the whole family or will keep the children entertained over the summer holidays, you’re sure to find it here!
